Turnabout Patchwork is a fun, new book by Teresa of Sewn Up, Teresa Down Under. Teresa has lots of different quilts in the book, all made with very simple blocks that are then cut apart and sewn back together in a different arrangement to create quilts that look complex, but are still easy to piece together.
Back in December, when we were decorating for Christmas, I looked at my Singer treadle machine in the entryway and thought, "I need a Christmas quilt to put there." This is how it looks all year...
and now this is how it will look at Christmas time 😊
I chose to make the Knots and Crosses variation of the Coordinated Strips block and the four fabrics came from my stash. The mini quilt is made of 16 blocks and it measures 27" x 27".
These are the original blocks.
Excuse the nighttime lighting! |
More yucky nighttime lighting |
And again...I was too anxious to keep sewing to wait until I could get daytime pictures, lol |
I used Aurifil 1231, Spring Green, and I love how it blends with some fabrics and contrasts in others.
Have you been following along with the rest of the blog hop? There have been some gorgeous quilts shared already and there are more to come, so be sure to visit everyone!
Before you do, though, you can leave a comment here for a chance to win a digital copy of Turnabout Patchwork, courtesy of Martingale 😊 To be entered, tell me what holidays you decorate for. We only change things up for Christmas, but I'm considering adding other season decorations, mostly because I want to make more seasonal quilts, lol!
Congratulations to the giveaway winner - comment #13 - Laura!

ReplyDeleteI do the most decorating for fall, Hakkoeee
ReplyDeleteOops, Halloween, Thanksgiving, & Christmas. But I do put up a few decorations for Valentine's day, St Patrick's day, Easter, Spring, & patriotic.
DeleteI only decorate for Christmas and a bit for the fall, love the fall colours. ..karenbbsnow@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI don't really decorate for holidays. But I do change my placemats for the seasons.
ReplyDeleteLeanne, it came out so well! I like how you changed up the quilt on your antique machine; it's a great way to make it more seasonal. Hope you're doing well!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt, and I love your quilting motif! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt!! I decorate for each month. If there is a holiday, I use that theme, if not, I use the season. It has grown to my front porch, so it becomes a pretty big job.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt! It looks so complicated but the Turnabout makes it look so simple. When my kids were small, I used to decorate for lots and lots of holidays. Now that I'm older and it's more of a pain to get all those decorations out of the garage, I do just the major ones--Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. And most of those decorations are quilts :)
ReplyDeleteGuess I am too preoccupied with quilting to decorate for holidays but do get out the lights & decor for Christmas. rozz01(at)cox(dot)net
ReplyDeleteI have gotten out of the habit of decorating for holidays and seasons. Probably because I found I still had Christmas decorations up in June! lol One of my favorite seasons to decorate for was fall--some of my favorite colors.
ReplyDeleteI love your idea of putting a finished piece under your treadle!
ReplyDeleteI change the table in my entry way at least one a month. Quilts, pictures, china, I love to change it up.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you around decorating (only for Christmas), but I do have seasonal table runners and hope to make more.
ReplyDeleteI like to change at least some of the decorations each month. Love your quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love decorating for the fall, but keep it spring time in my sewing room :) Your quilt came out lovely and is a great size to decorate your treadle.
ReplyDeleteLike you I only decorate at Christmas. Thank you for sharing your lovely quilt
ReplyDeleteLove the way your quilt turned out! Like you I used to only decorate for Christmas, but then I started making projects that were for other holidays and before you knew it, I had decorated for Valentines, St Patricks, 4th of July and Halloween! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteWe started decorating for January with any snowmen decorations. It looked so bare after the Christmas decorations went away.
ReplyDeleteLove to put out decor for all of the different seasons and holidays.
ReplyDeleteI decorate for Xmas. I do have a table running for thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteWell done! I love it. I definitely want to try that quilting motif. Just need to get my head around how to do it. And then practice...and maybe practice some more LOL
ReplyDeleteI used to decorate when the kids were younger and living here. Now I don't decorate for any holiday. Funny, I still make quilts for holidays. Go figure.
