The fmq on my Scrappy Log Cabin quilt is finished!!! Yipee! It only took me 16 months, but who's counting?
Last night I dumped out my bag of 2 1/2" strips and joined a bunch of them to make a scrappy binding. I joined way more than I needed, but I guess that means my next scrappy binding will be really quick to make.
Don't you just love a scrappy binding roll?
Are you part of the Schnitzel and Boo mini quilt swap? There are some 600 participants! I've finally decided what I want to make, and immediately cut my fabrics so I couldn't change my mind again. I'm going with a block from Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, volume 9. Gundrun Erla designed this one and I love the simplicity, the negative space and the pops of colour. My mini will be 2 blocks by 2 blocks. I sure hope my partner likes it.
I'll be linking up with WIP Wednesday, Let's Bee Social, NTT Thursday and I Quilt.
I'm not doing the swap, but the colors you picked out are super fun. I'm sure your partner will love it.
ReplyDeleteYour mini quilt is sure to be fabulous: such bright and cheerful colours and a great pattern. Please show it when you've nearly finished (otherwise it won't be WIP!)
ReplyDeleteYour scrappy binding roll looks so yummy! What a great idea. Love the block you chose for your swap
ReplyDeleteThat is a very fun block, and I do love the scrappy binding roll!
ReplyDeleteThanks for info on the mini quilt swap, will have to check it out! Should be a fun block!
ReplyDeleteThe binding roll is very yummy to look at. And now I am craving a cinnamon roll. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your binding! Beautiful colors for your swap quilt.
ReplyDeleteCutting your fabric so you can't change your mind, ha ha. I should probably do that myself.
ReplyDeleteI love a scrappy binding as well. Yours is pretty!
Your mini is going to be super cute, Leanne! Love those solids. And your scrappy roll!
ReplyDeleteLove the binding and the colours for your mini! just my taste; bright!
ReplyDeleteLove that magazine! Its going to be a beautiful mini!
ReplyDeleteI just discovered scrappy binding as well - I used leftover strips to bind a quilt I finished recently (and which apparently I forgot to photograph, as I can't find it anywhere on my blog, lol) and loved the effect. I've been cutting out squares for a fall D9P quilt and have the binding started already, using the scraps from the blocks. I think it's a fabulous look!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors you picked for your mini!
